Cycling 100 miles is no mean feat. If you had told me 5 years ago that I would have ridden over 50 centuries, lost over 10 pounds in weight and become a mentor to people using sport to change their lives I would have laughed you out of town. It all started for me 5 years ago when on a drunken night at the bar I was talked into riding a charity bicycle ride over 100 miles. In the months that followed I went from being an over-weight, rapidly aging man to a full on cycling convert. I lost weight, gained confidence, stop smoking and discovered a whole new energy came into my life as a result of my cycling. Fast forward 5 years and I now fitter than ever (I have ridden over 50 cycle centuries during the last 3 years) and have created this program to give you the benefit of my experiances and lessons learnt along the way. I have coached and mentored numerous people (from friends and family, to strangers who have turned up at my cycling club) to help them acheive their goal of riding 100 miles. These people have been as young as 15 and as old as 72, proving that as long as your preparation is right you can acheive your goal. Cycling a century is no different to other endurance sporting events such a running a marathon or fell running, it requires, dedication, preperation and above all training. In this program I give you all you need in terms of preperation and training advice. If you can add some dedication into the mix then you are already on track to completing what I hope will be the first of many centuries...... |
