Our family has believed for a very long time that there were no books that really explained renewable energy in simple terms so everyone could understand it. With our 14 years of experience living off the grid, we set out to solve that problem for you.

We figured that if we could not build it ourselves or find it at a reasonable price it just wasn’t worth doing.

There are only a few books out there right now that talk about Renewable Energy and none of them talk about how to do it on "the cheap" and still keep it simple.

There is too much waste in the world right now. Our family just loves to take something labeled as "junk" and make it new again. Building our own is the way we have done things.

For instance, I hate to see batteries go to scrap when it is easy to get some more life out of them. Just think, all of that lead and sulfuric acid inside of the batteries has to go somewhere. I’m always afraid it will impact the environment or the water supply.

Today is the day for change. This is your action plan for change. In this book you will not find dry, boring scientific claims that global warming and climate change will be the end of us all. This is a book about solutions- renewable energy solutions.

We can all see how gas prices and energy costs are rising. And there is no indication that they will fall in the near future. In fact, all the evidence points to higher and higher prices in the upcoming years.

When you are done reading this book, you will be able to install solar panels, or wind generators or hire a competent contractor to do the job for you if you choose.

Over 14 years ago it would have cost $17,000 to run hydro lines to our off grid property. We chose renewable energy with solar panels and wind generators instead. And are we ever glad we did. The price of gas and oil continues to rise and our neighbors ( probably you do to) pay over $200 per month in electricity bills. That is reason enough to switch to renewable energy.

We actually run a combination of both since they compliment each other. We have very windy winter weather but it is usually overcast and snowy or rainy. Then in the summer we have good sun, but not as much wind. A combination will probably work best for you too.
