I contacted dozens of newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations around the country and asked them to announce my contest in the hope I would find some of the most creative and romantic marriage proposal stories from REAL couples.

And to give people an incentive to submit their stories, I announced I would award the grand prize winner with a spectacular Aruba vacation, staying four-nights at the luxurious Radisson Aruba Resort.

And within three weeks 7,329 proposal stories flooded in from all around the globe, 9% of which were by females (and yes, it is perfectly acceptable for a woman to pop the question - in fact, guys are really flattered when that happens.)
