If you said “yes” to some of the above conditions, you may not be getting the right amount of nutrients in your body. These nutrients you lack are the vitamins, minerals, protein, fat and carbohydrates that are essential for the proper functioning of your bodily systems.

You see, it’s not enough to just have these substances present; they should be present in the right amounts since having too much or too little can cause more harm than good. Not having what you need in the amount that you need them makes you weak and makes your body prone to infections and diseases.

In the past, I thought that having three full meals a day with the occasional snacks in between was enough nourishment for me… until I started to get little aches and pains here and there and illnesses occurred more frequently. The medications that the doctors prescribed only worked temporarily but they never stopped the illnesses from coming. Knowing that medicines also carry side effects makes me wary about relying on them all the time.

This is why I’ve decided to commit myself to a healthier lifestyle. I’ve made changes in my habits, especially my eating habits, to make sure my body gets what it needs to function properly, to fight diseases, to stay (and look) young.  In my quest for health, I discovered this one practical and true nugget of wisdom: YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. Your diet affects your health, the way you feel and the way you look........
