"What What You Do to Get a Good Night’s Sleep- Without Using Pills?"Dear Frustrated Reader, Chances are it’s 3 a.m. and aside from an occasional cat fight or a distant barking dog, the whole town is asleep. Well, everyone except you . . . sitting here surfing the net all night... Maybe you’re on your umpteenth cup of coffee, or you’re nursing a little hot milk. (Didn’t Mama always say a warm drink at bedtime ’guarantees’ a night of blissful sweet dreams?) Except you already had a warm drink at 10, another at midnight and . . . ...well, here you are again. Perhaps you’ve just swallowed a couple more of those pills the doctor promised would cure your “little problem”. What’s in those things, anyway? Sugar? You’re on your second course already, and the “Caution: causes drowsiness” advisory is NOT amusing at this hour of the night. See, the warm drinks and the pills are just like the expensive meditation tapes, the relaxing brainwave CDs, the new pillow, the expensive mattress from Sweden, or that purple “healing” light bulb in your bedside lamp - useless! You’ve Tried Everything - But Absolutely Nothing Has Helped You Get The Long, Deep Refreshing Sleep You So Desperately Crave... Oh, you can nap. Boy can you ever "nap". In fact, life these days seems like an endless succession of little naps at the most inconvenient times... Like the other day when you fell asleep during a business meeting, or had to pull your vehicle off the road to close your eyes in a parking lot. Yeah, you were an hour late for that important appointment, but there’s no way you could have driven another minute. I don’t want to mislead you: There IS a time and a place for napping . . . IF you’re also getting a good night’s sleep. From forgetting birthdays to being a “no show” at family functions - not to mention losing track of phone conversations - you feel like you’re barely holding it together... My friend - if you’re going through the same "sleepless nightmare" I used to experience - you are absolutely exhausted, and if this continues, your health could suffer some very serious consequences. You see, during a good night of restful, uninterrupted sleep, your body “repairs” itself. No sleep, no repairs - not to mention the fact your brain isn’t getting the “down time” it needs to process the “irrelevant” from the “important”. The short-term result is an aching, weary body and a dull, fuddled brain... And the long-term results? Well - I don’t want to focus too much on the negative in this article, but I also don’t want to avoid the truth of the matter or pretend like insomnia’s just a "small" problem - it’s not. In fact: If Your Insomnia Isn’t Dealt With Quickly, "Feeling Tired" and Perhaps Even Losing Your Job Will Be Trivial In Comparison To the Serious Health Problems That Can Rapidly Develop - And Much Faster Than You Might Think... |
