Anxiety works in exactly the same way, trying to distract yourself is like burying your head in the sand and hoping everying sorts itself out. What’s more, the more you try and avoid something, the more your mind attaches anxious meaning to that thought or thing - that’s right, distraction can often worsen anxiety!
