As the title suggests, Michael Webb’s “1000 Questions for Couples” has all the right questions. At first the questions seemingly comes from nowhere .. some from pets, some from holiday and celebration and some from car and driver etc. But when you think about them for a second and work up the nerve to ask the same and poof! An hour passes absorbed in a conversation sparkeled by that single question.

The answers that your partner (or potential partner) offers, along with those you offer yourself, are at once the foundation upon which the relationship is founded and strengthened, or shaken and toppled. “1000 Questions for Couples,” in short, is about compatibility. It is about knowing whether or not you and the person you are currently in a relationship with are right for one another. Ideally you’ll know right from the outset; but practically these questions can be effective at any point in what may be many years or even decades with another person. And while, in part, his premise is to stave off potential relationships that will unavoidably go sour (and potentially result in divorce, yikes! perhaps with children already involved, double yikes!), the ebook “1000 Questions for Couples” is also about helping those who will remain together for many a silver anniversary to better understand one another’s similarities and differences.

But know going into this book, that Mr. Webb does not sugar coat everything. Some of the questions he challenges you to ask are difficult, ranging from touchy subjects about drug-use to infidelity, or in-laws to morality. The point is, however, while we may not want to ask these questions, and while both asking and answering can even be an embarrassing or harrowing experience, they must be asked if you expect to have an open, honest, and most important, loving and lasting relationship. With that said, numerous questions throughout (in every category, in fact) are quite fun, and if anything, worth asking if only to communicate with your partner via laughter.

Finally, Mr. Webb, if you do not already know who he is (or at least are about to be reminded… “Oh, that guy! Of course, I know him”), has been writing eBooks (and book books) about love, relationships, dating, marriage, and (oh la la) sex for about as long as those things have existed. Okay, not quite that long, because he’s still a young fellow; but what we mean is, he’s been writing about them for as long as people have been willing to truly open up and talk about them in an effort to make their relationships stronger. And the recognition and accolades for Mr. Webb seemingly never stop arriving. Check him out next time he’s scheduled for Oprah, a show on NBC or FOX, or in the pages of Men’s Health or Cosmopolitan. He’s already appeared on or in them all, not mention countless other publications, radio and television programs.

An insightful, practical, and entertaining book, Aug 25 2007
Reviewer: Tom
I am often skeptical of "self-help" books, but 1000 Questions for Couples is both a practical and insightful tool. I wish it had been available ten years ago when my husband and I were dating, although it is still useful to our relationship now, and to myself--as a vehicle for self-understanding. The authors' extensive experience with couples therapy is readily apparent in this sometimes surprising, always intriguing, collection of questions.

Questions, Questions and More Questions, Nov 28 2006
Reviewer: Mike Steven
After you have had a few dates with someone and you think it might be going somewhere, you begin to ask more serious questions about their childhood, family, job etc.

While there are a lot of questions in this book that are crucial for couples in the dating stage, the majority of the questions are useful for people who are already married. If you value your relationship, I urge you to ask these 1000 Questions for Couples.
